Something just didn’t work out today.  Even though we own a house and motorhome we still managed to have nowhere to sleep tonight.  Here is what has happened.

We took our motorhome into the shop today to have the front windshield replaced. About 5 hours later the dealer called us and said they had a “major problem”.  Now, these are not the words you want to hear when it is your home.  The service guy continued to inform me that after they removed the old windshield they realized that the replacement was not the correct size.  So our motorhome was sitting in the shop with a big fat hole in the front of it. It appears that it was the suppliers fault for sending the wrong one.  So the supplier is suppose to be getting a truck and delivering it basically overnight to fix their mess.

So since we can not sleep in the motorhome and our house is completely emptied out we had no choice but to get a hotel for the night.  Luckly the windshield supplier had agreed to pay for it.  So we are spending the night in the Holiday Inn about 3 miles from our office, 3 miles from the campground we are living in and about 10 miles from our house.

While I would much rather be in our motorhome it has been nice to go to the pool and actually take a real shower.  I can honestly say that our hotel room is bigger than our home.  That’s just SAD:(

Maybe you should keep your house in case you change your mind about staying in the motorhome for a whole year. The four of you might get sick of each other in the tight quarters. Or maybe I should just keep my thoughts to myself. :o ) It will be interesting to keep up with your travels.

  2. Hang in there Godwins! You are beginning a great adventure that will transform you and your family in ways you cannot even imagine. Enjoy your time at the hotel – it may be the last one for quite some time :-)

    Blessings on your journey,
    The Bendicksons

PS We still havn’t fixed our furnace…we should probably do that before we get to the desert!

  3. Connie, Thanks for the motivation. We thought this hotel stay would be a good “test run” for all the unexpected things to come. As you know, there is always something going wrong with motorhome ownership:( Go ahead and get the furnace fixed as you may need it.

  4. Brenda, Feel free to express your thoughts. Many times I don’t know what mine are. Getting rid of the house is just one of those simplification things we would like to do. One less things to worry with over the next year or so.

You are probably right…..if you are going to do this you need to go all the way with as few worries as possible. I guess if something happens to the motorhome on the road there are hotels everywhere. Just stay safe and have a good time…..life is short!

  6. No Worries, there’s always room at our “Inn” for you guys!

  7. Thanks Shannon, that comment may come back to haunt you one day:)
