Wow, can you believe that we have been living in our motorhome for a month now? I can honestly say that everything is going great and we have not missed our house one bit. It is amazing that you can go from 1,950 sq. ft. to less than 400 sq. ft. and not miss a thing. Everyone is adjusting well. The kids have their space in the living room to play and sleep. Polly and I can relax in our bedroom and watch TV and work on our computers. We have almost everything we need in the motorhome to travel and still have space left. I would have never believed it!!
A lot of things have happened over the past few weeks. Here are the highlights:
- We have had the motorhome in the shop a few times getting some of the new bugs worked out. One of the biggest was having the front windshield replaced.
- We had a base plate installed on the front of our new toad to allow it to be pulled behind the motorhome. Unfortunately we now have a “rattle” in the front of the toad from where they installed it that we can not seem to fix. We also had to purchase a braking system for the Toad to help it brake as needed.
- We have installed our Wii for the kids to play.
- We have finally placed our home on the market for sale. We are getting it listed in the MLS system tomorrow.
- We had our first snow storm in the motorhome. For the most part everything went just fine. Luckly we didn’t have to move the motorhome during that time because the slides were frozen and couldn’t go in.
- We are having a hitch installed on the toad Friday so we can install a hitch mounted bike rack for our 4 bikes.
So far everything is going great. Below are some pictures of the past snow storm. Stay tuned for more updates.

Brian,
Last we spoke you were tring to decide on 5th wheels vs Motorhomes. Happy to see you found a great rig.
I didn’t even know you had a blog until Connie just sent it to me. Looks great and thanks for sharing the adventure.
Good luck on the house and stay warm. Hopefully our paths will cross someday.
Hi Rich, thanks for commenting. After thinking about it for a while we decided on a motorhome. So far we like it a lot. I still enjoy reading your blog weekly and your family has been an inspiration for us for many months. Enjoy your trip through Texas and out west. Please keep in touch. I might have to hit you up for some advice soon.
Loved the pictures! Your boys look like little angels. Hope you are staying warm……how is the motorhome heated?

My favorite picture is the second one…..someone could paint that and put it in a frame…..I would if I had any talent.
We have 5 possible heating sources in the motorhome. There are 2 heat pumps that are good for taking the chill off. Then we have 2 furnaces that we use for the really cold nights. The furnace runs on propane so we don’t run it much as propane is not cheap. We also use our electric heating blanket on our bed which keeps us nice and warm.
